The Modular Wastewater System (MWS) is a complete sewage treatment plant that can be deployed almost anywhere in only 14 days. It can operate as a stand-alone system or as a way of quickly increasing the capacity of an existing plant. It is a unique solution to assist with planned maintenance or to provide a fast response solution to excess wastewater. When unforeseen events cause damage to existing infrastructure the MWS allows for a temporary solution to deal with the wastewater until new facilities can be completed.
What is the M.W.S?
The MWS is a modular, kit-form, wastewater system designed to deal with sewage treatment requirements locally to the population and scalable to the number of people. The waste stream is treated with efficient, low-energy processes that remove all dangerous pathogens. The treated water can be safely discharged directly into an existing drainage system.
The MWS design is based on:
Proven methods – The main treatment is an activated sludge aeration process used in the majority of Sewage Treatment Plants around the world.
Modular concept – Treatment steps are: Coarse screen, Sedimentation (primary settlement), Aerobic digestion (primary treatment), Liquid separation module (glass bead filter), Disinfection module (UV or chlorination), Flexigester sludge treatment. For any one project, some or all of these modules may be required.
Durable components – High quality, reliable engineering for consistent performance.
Remote operation – All the component parts of the MWS can be installed without machinery and carried by hand if necessary. No local infrastructure or utilities are required.
Flexible implementation – The MWS can be configured to suit the specific conditions of a site. It can also be reconfigured during operation with minimal downtime of the plant.
Low power requirement – Typically the energy demand is less than 15kW

Key Benefits
Daily Input of Waste – Up to 1000m3 (based on western European typical wastewater composition.)
System Volume – Current systems have a storage capacity starting at 300m3. Due to the scalability of the Butek Tanks MWS this capacity can be easily increased by simply adding more tanks.
Pathogen Reduction – The discharged, treated water is 99.99% pathogen free!
Installation
Each MWS can be installed in around 7 – 20 days, depending on facility size. Butek Tanks have teams of trained installers based around the UK who can safely install the tanks. Our expert Process Engineers will work with a customer to design the solution that will suit a project and assist with the site implementation.
