Industrial Water Tank – Ramsbottom

Project: Fletcher Quarry– 5,000,000 litre Tank Installation.

Location: Ramsbottom, Lancashire.

Project Scope: Our client required a 5,000,000-litre industrial water storage tank to resolve a water storage capacity issue in their manufacturing processes.

Execution: This tank is the largest we have ever produced and installed, demanding extensive collaboration between our technical and manufacturing teams. We partnered with external independent engineers to rigorously verify stress calculations and confirm the appropriate steel thickness and liner solution for this project.

Timeline: Our customer required a rapid solution for the supply and installation of the tank to meet the urgent need for additional storage on-site. After an initial site visit, we collaborated closely with the customer-appointed civils contractor to determine the optimal location for the tank.

Location: Ramsbottom Quarry. The tank needed to be placed near the equipment to facilitate the cleaning process.

Installation: We required a minimum of 3 meters of clearance around the tank for proper installation. The agreed-upon location involved cutting into the bank, clearing, and levelling the ground, allowing our team to proceed with the installation seamlessly.

The tank was equipped with a 1mm Butyl Liner, which was verified as the appropriate material for storing the intended liquid. The liner was fabricated in pre-calculated panels at our factory in Essex, allowing our qualified installers to efficiently vulcanise the panels on-site, thereby reducing installation times.

With the approved stress calculations, we were able to manufacture and erect the tanks using the appropriate steel thickness configuration. Our installation team is fully trained to erect tanks of this nature, adopted a safe installation method working strictly to our pre-determined Risk Assessments and Method Statement (RAMS).

Our planned approach not only reduced the lead time but also ensured compliance with health and safety requirements for both the site and our staff.

Our meticulous planning resulted in a project completed to specification, on-time and to the customers satisfaction.
