A water-permeable lightweight polypropylene meshed cover with HDPE monofilament allows rainwater to pass through while preventing debris and wildlife from contaminating the water storage tank. The woven material of the anti-algae cover also blocks sunlight and thereby inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as algae.
The anti-algae cover is available in sizes up to 14.63m (48ft), However, special consideration of tank height and location must be made due to wind loading.
What is Algae?
Algae are photosynthetic organisms, meaning they grow excessively when exposed to sunlight and certain temperatures, especially in stagnant water.
Algae affect the clarity of water due to their naturally green colour as well as the water quality, resulting in a foul musky odour.
Some algae can cause serious illness in humans, animals and aquatic life, including skin and eye irritations and, if consumed, fevers, headaches and more.
Benefits of an Anti-Algae Cover?
The anti-algae covers are a simple, cost-effective solution to preventing algae growth, resulting in reduced maintenance and water treatment of a water storage tank. Protecting the quality and clarity of water stored.
Easy to install with simple instructions supplied with every cover.
What’s Included?
Each anti-algae cover is manufactured with a hood, allowing access to an inlet as well as inspection of the water. The cover attaches to the outside of the steel water tanks via a series of ratchet straps connected to eyelets. Some covers also include a central support system to create a slight pitch cover, preventing build up of debris which can cause the cover to sink inwards.
We recommend installing anti-algae covers alongside a reinforcing ring to prevent deformation of the top ring of steel from overtightening during installation, as well as in exposed areas subject to high winds.
