A Specialist Division of Butyl Products Ltd

EPDM Liner Kit

Whilst not possessing the same longevity as Butyl liners, our EPDM offers a more budget friendly option, making it a popular choice particularly amongst the agricultural and horticultural sectors. Manufactured at our UK factory to suit any tank size and shape, with stock options available ranging from 22m3 to 93m3.

What is EPDM?

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, or EPDM as it is commonly known, is a synthetic water-resistant rubber material. Our EPDM is a cost-effective flexible rubber material and, although not as long-lasting as Butyl, possesses relatively high durability as well as resistance to UV exposure, weathering, and chemicals such as:

  • Alkalis
  • Strong acids
  • Natural oils & fats
  • Alcohols
  • Organic solutions

Key Properties

Our EPDM rubber has the following properties:

  • Seams are all vulcanised to produce 100% impermeable liners up to 1200m2 in area.
  • A high elasticity of 300% stretches over the original length without damaging the material properties, allows the membrane to adjust to any base settlement.
  • Small damage and leaks can be repaired using cold-bonding tape on site.
  • Our EPDM rubber is a very stable polymer and does not leach any chemicals into the contents of a tank.

Variations

Butek Tanks EPDM liner kits are manufactured from 1.00mm EPDM as standard. However, we can offer the following material variations:

  • plain rubbers of thicknesses between 1.00mm and 1.5mm
  • scrim-reinforced EPDM rubber with tensile strengths of up to 550N/50mm.
  • WRAS-certified EPDM rubber for drinking water applications.

Lifespan

Despite not being as long-lasting compared to Butyl liners, our EPDM tank liners have an anticipated lifespan of approximately 25 years. We offer a 10-year warranty on all water storage EPDM liner Kits.
