Liner Kits

A tank liner is a critical component of any water storage tank or industrial liquid storage system. Butek Tanks manufactures tank liner kits in-house from a full range of rubber and plastic-based materials, including Butyl, EPDM, Landflex® ES, HDPE and PVC. This gives clients a complete choice of water tank liner and industrial tank liner options to suit their budget, the liquid being stored and the application. Because we fabricate all our own liners, we are entirely impartial when recommending the right tank liner kit for your project, whether that is a new water tank installation or a repair and replacement liner for an existing steel water storage tank.

What’s Included in Our Tank Liner Kits?

Each tank liner kit is supplied complete and ready to install, including everything needed to fit and secure the liner inside your water tank or liquid storage tank:

  • Prefabricated, impermeable flexible liner
  • Securing hardware (capping and clips or nuts and bolts)
  • Tensioning wire and latch
  • Puncture resistant geotextile underlay (optional)

Tank Liner Kit Materials

Each tank liner kit is fabricated by our experienced geomembrane technicians using a full range of professional welding techniques, including vulcanisation, high-frequency, impulse, hot air, hot wedge and extrusion welding. We manufacture high-quality liners from five materials, each suited to different applications, stored liquids and performance requirements. Whether you need a water tank liner for drinking water storage, an EPDM rubber liner for irrigation or a chemical-resistant liner for industrial use, we can supply the right solution:

Butyl RubberThe premier material amongst rubber tank liners. Butyl rubber has excellent impermeability, a long service life and extremely high flexibility. Complex shapes can be easily fabricated using Butyl rubber and all the seams are fully vulcanised in our factory.

EPDM RubberA good budget option, synthetic rubber membrane with a wide range of thicknesses and specifications available. Our EPDM can supply very good performance where lifespan does not have to be as long or there is little vulnerability to damage in the design and use of a tank. Our EPDM liners have very good flexibility and elasticity and are supplied with fully vulcanised seams.

Landflex® ESA specialist, high-tenacity cloth membrane with impermeable polymer coating on both sides. Landflex® ES is extremely durable and offers excellent chemical resistance and corrosion protection across a wide variety of possible contaminants in stored water, including petrochemicals. Landflex® ES liners have fully tested welded seams using our high-frequency welding equipment.

HDPE  – High Density Polyethylene is the standard liner material in the aquaculture (fish farming) industry. This liner is the best choice where frequent cleaning of the interior of the tank is required. Our specialist installation team can assist with the on-site welding where this material is the required option.

PVC  – Polyvinyl chloride is a cost-effective membrane material available in a very wide range of specifications and colours. PVC liners are commonly reinforced with a high tenacity polyamide cloth that gives the membrane very high tensile and resistance properties. The seams of PVC liners are HF welded for a high-quality finish.

Key Benefits of Our Tank Liner Kits

Manufactured in the UK for a Perfect Fit

Every tank liner kit is fabricated in-house by our experienced geomembrane technicians to the precise dimensions of your water tank or storage tank. Our liners are available for all Butek Tanks corrugated steel tank sizes, from 2m³ to 5,000m³, ensuring a tight, secure fit that maintains a fully watertight seal and protects the interior of the tank throughout the liner’s service life.

Five Liner Materials to Suit Every Application

With Butyl, EPDM, Landflex® ES, HDPE and PVC options, we supply the right tank liner kit for every application. Whether you need a potable water tank liner for drinking water storage, a chemical-resistant liner for industrial liquid storage, or a rubber liner for an irrigation or rainwater harvesting tank, our material range covers the full scope of water storage and liquid containment requirements.

Suitable for Drinking Water Tank Applications

Several of our tank liner materials are suitable for use in drinking water tanks, including our Butyl and EPDM rubber options. These liners protect water quality by creating a fully sealed, inert barrier between the stored water and the tank structure. All compliant liners meet relevant standards for potable water contact. Our team will confirm material suitability and advise on compliance for your specific drinking water tank liner application.

New Liners and Repair Liner Kits for Existing Tanks

Our tank liner kits are not just for new installations. We also supply repair, reline and replacement liner kits for existing steel water storage tanks where the original liner has reached the end of its service life, suffered damage or developed a leak. A new tank liner is a cost-effective way to extend the life of a steel water tank without the expense of a full tank replacement. Our team can advise on liner specification, cover requirements and management of the replacement process from survey through to installation.

Fully Welded Seams for a Watertight, High-Quality Finish

Our geomembrane technicians use the right welding technique for each liner material, including vulcanisation for Butyl and EPDM rubber liners, high-frequency welding for Landflex® ES and PVC, and extrusion welding for HDPE. Fully welded seams ensure every tank liner kit delivers a consistent, high-quality, watertight seal with no risk of leakage at the joins. All seam welds are quality-checked before the liner kit leaves our facility.

Chemical Resistance Across a Wide Range of Stored Liquids

Our tank liner materials are designed to handle a wide range of stored liquids beyond water, including slurry, digestate, liquid fertilisers, hydrocarbons and petrochemicals. Landflex® ES offers excellent chemical resistance and corrosion protection, making it the liner of choice for industrial liquid storage applications where standard rubber liners may not provide sufficient performance.

Full UK Tank Liner Installation and Repair Service

Butek Tanks provides a complete tank liner installation and repair service across the UK for all our tank liner kit materials. Our specialist installation team carry out on-site liner fitting, which is particularly important for HDPE liners that require on-site welding. Every installation is carried out to ensure the liner is correctly fitted, fully sealed, compliant with relevant standards and ready for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

A tank liner kit creates a waterproof and chemically resistant barrier inside a storage tank. It helps protect the tank structure while ensuring safe storage of water, slurry, liquid fertilisers, chemicals and other industrial liquids.

The most suitable tank liner material depends on the application, stored liquid and operational requirements. Butyl rubber liners are commonly preferred for long-term water storage due to their flexibility, durability and excellent impermeability.

Butyl liners provide excellent flexibility and long service life, EPDM liners offer a cost-effective solution for less demanding applications, and HDPE liners are widely used where high chemical resistance and regular cleaning of the interior are required, such as aquaculture and industrial systems.

Yes. Selected tank liner materials such as Landflex® ES and HDPE offer strong chemical resistance and corrosion protection, making them suitable for storing certain industrial liquids, petrochemicals and contaminated water. The correct liner specification depends on the chemical composition of the stored liquid.

Yes. Tank liner kits can be manufactured to suit a wide range of tank dimensions, shapes and applications, including corrugated steel tanks and concrete tanks. Flexible liner materials allow complex tank configurations to be fabricated and installed efficiently.

High-quality rubber tank liners are designed for long-term use and can provide many years of reliable performance when correctly specified and maintained. Lifespan depends on factors such as UV exposure, stored liquid type and operational conditions. Ask our team about expected service life and warranty information for each material.

HDPE and PVC tank liners are commonly used in aquaculture, wastewater treatment, agriculture, industrial processing and liquid containment applications. Their durability, chemical resistance and low maintenance requirements make them suitable for demanding storage environments.
